Rayleigh sits on the east side of the North Thompson along Highway 5, south of Heffley Creek, cut off from the rest of Kamloops by the river and reserve land. It was a post office called Rayleigh Mount before it joined the city in May 1973, and the Tournament Capital Ranch and its softball complex are just to the north. The housing is mostly 1970s and 1980s ranchers and split-levels on larger lots, many with detached shops.
