Home › Aberdeen

Aberdeen is the south end of the city, bordered by Highway 5A, the old Merritt highway, on the east and the Trans-Canada on the north, named after the Earl of Aberdeen who toured Kamloops as Governor General in November 1894. It is one of the fastest-growing residential areas in Kamloops, with everything from three-storey-plus condominiums to large single-family homes, plus Costco, the casino and the hotels along Rogers Way.

Because so much of Aberdeen is recent, the work here splits two ways. New builds are quoted from plans to the BC Energy Step Code, which Kamloops has required at Step 3 for Part 9 homes since 1 January 2022: open-cell in the 2x6 walls, closed-cell at rims, cantilevers and the garage ceiling, scheduled between rough-in inspection and drywall. The 1990s and 2000s homes on the lower streets get the retrofit treatment: cathedral ceilings that never reached their R-value and bonus rooms over garages that are cold every January.

Common Aberdeen jobs: new-build wall and rim packages for builders, bonus rooms over garages, cathedral and vaulted ceilings, and walkout basement walls on the hillside lots.

Metal buildings and detached shops, foamed so they can be heated in January.
